"Better Than Perfect"

Today was Evie's due date.  And instead of still waiting for her to arrive, we have had 2 full weeks to enjoy her every breath.  She continues to delight us and warm our hearts daily.  I'm pretty sure there hasn't been a day that Seth and I have not said, "I love this baby!"

Evie had her 2 week checkup today and surpassed our greatest expectations.  Not only had she regained some weight, not only had she gotten back to her birth weight (which is all the pediatrician wanted), but she has surpassed her birth weight by a quarter of a pound!  She was 7 lbs 2 oz at birth, 6 lbs 5 oz when we left the hospital, and today is 7 lbs 6 oz.  As my sister-in-law said, that is better than perfect!

She's also grown to 19.75 inches from 18 inches at birth.  She is still in the high 20s percentile-wise, but I figure if this kid can make up 17 oz in 12 days, she'll probably keep on at a pretty decent rate and get into a higher percentile.  Her next appointment is August 8th, when she'll get her vaccinations and then finally be able to go out in public without me worrying about her catching the plague...

Here's Evie at the doctor's office, where she had been stripped down to just her diaper, per their request, in a room that must have been about 66 degrees.  She was so cold, so we wrapped her in her blanket from Aunt Jill.
