On Nov. 1, Evie said mournfully during breakfast, "Well, it's another year until Halloween." She's her mother's daughter, always thinking ahead, and just a tad melancholy about the passage of time and the ending of seasons.
We had a pretty typical week, for us, with all the busy-ness in our lives. Thursdays are ballet/tap classes, Fridays are Mustard Seed studies at church, Saturdays are 2 hours of theatre classes, Sundays are church days, Mondays are the one night we stay home most of the time, Tuesdays are dinners with Granna and Grannadaddy, and here on Wednesday nights, Seth and Evie have their evening together while I'm at choir. We are busy, but it keeps us well-rounded and on our toes.
Saturday, I taught Evie how to make scrambled eggs by herself, aside from lighting the gas stove. She did a great job and was very proud of herself.
It was extremely rainy on Monday, but when it was almost time for Daddy to come home, Evie asked me if she could go outside and wait for him, as she's started doing on days when we don't have any evening activities. I figured, what's rain for if not to have kids play in it while they wait for their parents to come home? So she donned her raincoat and galoshes and played in the rain for about half an hour until Seth got home.
