DJ Toto

You can tell the school year is winding down!  We've had ceremonies and recitals, and now we're on to field trips.  This week, I got to chaperone Evie's CLUE field trip to Junior Academy which was a really awesome experience.  For the last 12 weeks, CLUE classes across two grades and two schools have been preparing for this field trip.  They were grouped and assigned to different types of businesses (FedEx, Amazon, Cumulus Media, Ace Hardware, non-profits) as well as City Hall, banks, restaurant, and police.  They assigned roles like CEO, CFO, Project Managers, etc. to run their business and learned about business loans, payroll, balancing paychecks, etc.  Then when they got to the site, they got into their businesses and began operations, taking out the bank loan and doing whatever tasks they had to complete in order to earn money back by the end of the day.  Everyone got to have 2 breaks where they could go get cash from the bank and go shopping or supporting other businesses.

Evie was in the Cumulus Media group and she opted to be the DJ.  So she provided music all day and read the ads and announcements that were paid for by other businesses.  She had a great time and I enjoyed her choice of music.

We had a really good time!

On Thursday, Evie got to reprise her role as Toto.  The younger theatre kids were performing their parts as munchkins and so Dorothy, Toto, Glinda, and the Wicked Witch were asked to come back and perform with them.  She did a great job, as expected.

This weekend, Evie spent the night with Kathy and Rickie and had the bonus joy of Tia being there too!  They had a great time Saturday night and they gave us a performance in the afternoon.  It brought tears to my eyes to see Tia and Evie dancing together.
