Best Cooks

Evie has really gotten into this cooking competition show called "Worst Cooks in America" where, as the title suggests, the contestants are people who are terrible at cooking and they learn how to cook a restaurant-quality meal.  Evie has increased her interest in helping me cook in response to this (perhaps she thinks I need it so I wont' become a contestant), and I was very impressed with her this week when we made pumpkin lasagna roll ups.  She was able to layer all the ingredients on and then roll the noodles up pretty deftly.

Evie cracked me up with a couple of things she said this week.  It has been colder here and her lips are chapped, but she put it this way: "My lips are crumbly."

As I was picking her up from theater, one of her classmates said, "Hey, Evie's mom!"  I said to Evie, "I'm more popular for being your mom than for being anything else."  And she said, "I'm popular, so you're popular.  That's just how it goes here."

Today, Evie and I went to visit Grandma Jeanne who is still in rehab following surgery.  Evie found a balloon on the floor and she had Grandma batting it back and forth with her for about 20 minutes.  I told Evie she would make a good PT or OT.
