Annalisa's Visit

It has been a really wonderful week because my dear dear Annalisa has been visiting!  Annalisa always remarks on how much older Evie seems on each visit, but this time the change was pretty drastic.  Evie has indeed done a lot of growing up this year.

Annalisa arrived on Monday and we had lunch with my brother and his family before they left town, as well as Granna and Grannadaddy, and then we went to pick Evie up from school.  We had to stop by Frost Bake Shop to pick up Annalisa's cake and the two of them just hugged and snuggled the whole time.

Most of our week was spent just hanging out with Annalisa.  Evie had her usual dance class on Tuesday and Thursday, we went to some dinners and did some shopping, but mostly it was just a chance to relax and catch up.  On Thursday, we got our nails done, which is one of Evie's favorite treats (and Annalisa's, I think).

Friday night, Evie spent the night with Granna and Grannadaddy while Seth, Annalisa, and I had our belated birthday dinner celebration for Annalisa's birthday which was in January.  She had to postpone her trip because of COVID concerns, so we celebrated in April instead.

Saturday, Evie took her roller skates out for a spin for the first time since Santa brought them in December.  She held on to me and Seth for dear life and my back and arms are quite sore today!  But she had a fun time and seemed to get the hang of it.

At dinner last night, Annalisa had the opportunity to explain the history of different religions and impart some wisdom on interacting with people of other faiths and why different religious groups dislike each other.  She and I agree that things like that are the best part of parenting - we call Annalisa Evie's tertiary parent.

Sadly, Annalisa had to go back home early this morning, so she said her goodbyes to Seth and Evie last night and I dropped her off at the airport this morning.  It was a wonderful visit, as always, and I'm glad we're already scheduled to go see her and Mary in July.
