Beauregard Jacques Horse Mayne

We made it back from Destin in 11 hours on Monday instead of what is usually an 8 hour drive.  I'm not sure exactly where the lost the time, but it did allow us to get a late lunch/early dinner at Chuy's in Birmingham.

This week was school and dance per usual, but the big event of the week was that we got a new puppy.  Seth and I have been talking for a while about how we were ready for another one now that Siouxsie has pulled through her ordeal of mycoplasma (and we now have insurance for both dogs).  So when I saw this black and white parti standard poodle, we fell in love with him.  We didn't tell Evie a thing about it because we wanted to be completely surprised.  And she was.

So, we introduce to you our new poodle: Beauregard Jacques Horse Mayne.  Beau for short.  BeauJacques for funnies because there is a cartoon called BoJack Horseman.

Evie was reading her book to him on the way home to help him fall asleep.

Edison is a bit jealous and needed to snuggle with Evie for reassurance

Today would have been my grandparents' 73th wedding anniversary.  They were married on a Sunday after church.  As we sat around at lunch today at Kathy's house, we talked about how Grandma's wedding dress was not the traditional white because she said she didn't know you were supposed to wear white.  Then it occurred to us that the wedding dress was in the cedar chest in Grandma's room, along with the hat and shoes she wore, so we went to pull it out and Evie ended up trying it on.  It was really sweet to see her in it, and Grandma would have loved it.

Evie loved getting to dress up in Grandma's wedding dress, and she also treated the experience very reverently, like the old soul she is.

I love how she can be so grown up and mature and also still have moments like this one: sleeping in a robe, hugging a stuffed animal.
