She wrote this sweet song for me, which goes:
You are the best
And I love you because
You are the best Mama ever
You make my happiness bloom, Mama
Mama, you are the best
Of course, this brought me to tears. I love this little girl....
Since we can't go do very much in terms of our usual activities (dance, theatre, shopping), we went to the Tennessee Safari Park where we got to feed zebras, llamas, deer, camels, and many other animals from the comfort of our cards. We had a great time and Evie, who has been to many petting zoos where you could feed animals, finally overcame her fear and fed the animals. She has always wanted to, but getting to that point of actually letting the animal near her has been a difficulty.
We are usually not too keen on letting Evie use Facetime or have access to her ipad - we save those kinds of entertainments for when we are traveling. But given that we've been without contact with other kids, we've been more lax about that. I have been so impressed with how creative she and her friends are, playing together despite the distance. She and her friend Allyson each got play doh and decided to make a picnic for me and Allyson's mom. So they had me choose what kind of drink we were going to have and Allyson's mom chose the food and each girl fashioned the full meal out of play doh and brought it to us. It was very sweet.
Evie had her first online class today. It wasn't so much of an instructional time as a time for the kids to get together and chat. They had a good time.
