Impressions

Since our drive back from Florida on Wednesday, we've been pretty business-as-usual, with the exception of starting a quick 3-week ballet class on Saturdays.  Evie hasn't been to ballet in a year and it's pretty amazing to me how much she's changed.  She was still 3, not quite 4, at her last ballet lesson, and now at a month into being 5, she has much more concentration, attention, and interest than she did at 3.  Her teacher was happily surprised to see her back and said, "You grew up on me!"  I watched her during the whole lesson and she was a very good listener, not distracted by the other kids, and had a lot of grace.

A funny moment was when we arrived and were waiting for class to begin, and Evie was looking at this other little girl like she might know her.  She eventually went over to her and said hello and the little girl said hi back and they immediately began playing.  The girl's mom said, "And who is this?" and Evie introduced herself.  The mother said, "Oh, so this is the famous Evie!"  Apparently this little girl is going to the same summer camp Evie is going to and even though they are not in the same group, they see each other and play together some.  The mom told me that on the weekends, her daughter sometimes wants to play "summer camp" where the little girl is always the counselor and the mom is occasionally assigned the role of Evie.  She said, "I wasn't sure you were a real girl, but it's nice to meet the legend."  Guess Evie makes an impression on people wherever she goes.
