Everyone has an opinion on who Evie looks like. I see Seth in her. Seth sees me. A lot of people have attributed her smile, her eyes, her nose to various family members. But, I realized during our trip that Evie's personality is certainly her own.
Unless she is gassy or overtired, she is always smiling. She seems to never meet a stranger and isn't afraid of anyone. Even the people in the nursing home who had no teeth or were missing appendages or had more wrinkles than she'd ever seen - none of these people frightened her, and she gave every one of them a smile. So many people said she brightened up their day.
Not only is she friendly, she's curious and inquisitive. She loves to examine new objects and loves going new places. Her feet were kicking with excitement while we were going through the airports. She's delighted to see new things. We rode a train from one terminal to another last night for fun, and she loved watching the lights change as we rode through the tunnel. She spent a while staring out the window of the plane, studying the colors on the wingtip and watching the city lights as we flew over the world at night. She delights in using her senses in new environments.
And she's sweet as sugar. She loves to snuggle and is especially good at riding on your shoulder with her whole body weight leaned against you for warmth. She loves to hold your finger if she's sleepy. She cuddles up with you when you pick her up, and just has a sweet disposition.
I don't know if the personalities we have as babies stay the same as we get older, but if they do, boy, did we get lucky.
