Evie Beat COVID

Well we have come through COVID and are ready to go back to school next week.  Let me say first of all that Seth and I tested ourselves and never got COVID from Evie despite being in her space with her all the time.  This is only possible because we got our vaccines.  I know there are stories out there about breakthrough cases for people who have gotten the vaccine and still get COVID, but a) those cases are usually mild and b) we are definitely a counter example to that and proof the vaccines are effective.

Here is Evie, posing in triumph after she tested negative.

Because she is no longer positive, and now has some natural immunity for a while, we went to get our nails done.  This is a treat we had saved for the annual back to school week, but we didn't get to do it at the beginning of the 2020 school year or the beginning of this year, so it was nice to sneak it in this week.

We also went to Huey's, Evie's favorite restaurant, for the first time since March 12, 2020.

And because we are riding this natural and vaccinated immunity for a bit, we also went out for ramen tonight.

We also let her go rock climbing today, because it's been a while and she was going absolutely stir crazy.

I am really grateful that Evie's COVID case was mild and that she will be able to go back to school tomorrow.  We have missed so much instruction - in fact, she's missed more school days than she has attended this year - and I blame our governor for that because if he would allow the option of virtual learning then we could have kept up with her school work while she was in quarantine (and actually, we would have kept her home until she could be fully vaccinated, so she wouldn't have gotten COVID in the first place).  But I'm hoping it's all over and done with now....
