In addition to a new school, we have also added a new gymnastics class to Evie's schedule, per her request. She loved the gym we went to over the summer so much that she wanted to go there for classes even though it's quite a drive and she doesn't know anyone. We started last Wednesday so she's had 2 classes so far. Unfortunately the coach who did her trial class is not the one who'll be teacher her - in fact, they don't have a set coach right now - so we're not entirely settled into that routine. But she loves it! She loves getting to use the in-ground trampoline, the balance beam, the uneven bars, and especially falling into the pit from the high bar. This gives me a heart attack:

Settling in at School
I am so impressed with Evie's transition to public school. Imagine going from the only classroom you've known for 3 years, with the same kids, same teacher, same kind of activities but on a scale that becomes more challenging each year, at a school where the focus is on community and social skills - then going to a public school where you know no one, the focus is on academics rather than social skills, you suddenly have to be in your assigned seat and quiet in the hallways, navigate the cafeteria and all that... It's daunting to me and I'm not even a six-year-old. Evie has had a few moments where she's told us she doesn't have any friends other than one girl named Ena, and that she is scared about one thing or another; and that's to be expected. Transitions are hard for everyone. But on the whole, she has done incredibly well and I'm so very proud of her.
