Well, sadly, the cousins are gone and we're getting back into our normal routine. Addie and Will were here until Tuesday and the kids got along so great the entire time. They were truly a pleasure and brought so much happiness to all of us, especially Evie. When it was time for them to leave, Evie cried for about two hours. She tried getting back to school for the afternoon session (I had the thought that this would help take her mind off of missing them), and she gave it her best shot, but spent the afternoon in tears. Fortunately, she then had ballet and that did help distract her. She said, though, that it is so hard to have been looking forward to the time with your cousins and then have it be over and know it's going to be so long before you get to play with kids again. I made her a countdown calendar for the days until we go to Florida in March when she'll get to see them again.

Bye to Cousins
Tuesday night when she was getting ready for bed, she was teary again, saying how much she missed her cousins. And then, she fell apart because she realized that in their packing, Addie and Will and accidentally taken the travel size tube of glitter toothpaste that she had gotten from the dentist the day before. I guess that was the straw that broke the camel's back for that day.
When the weather was good a couple of days ago, I took Evie to the playground at school to cheer her up. She saw all the kids on the newly installed playground and got a little scared because none of them were wearing masks. So we opted to go to the older playgrounds so she could have them all to herself.
When I brought her back home and asked her how she was feeling, she said she was doing better. Then she said, "Mama, you're the best. Because, everyone in our family is nice, but you're there when I need you most." This child knows how to melt my heart.
We also tried to make a fun moment for her today when. we were watching a movie. We made her a blanket fort and some popcorn for something different to do. She enjoyed that. Edison enjoyed it too.
